On Tuesday, October 24th, Industrial Arts teacher Pat Rabbitt escorted over 30 Mona Shores students to four different manufacturing facilities in Muskegon as well as the Carolyn and Peter Stirrus Technology Center, which is administered by Muskegon Community College in downtown Muskegon.

They started their morning at Eagle Alloy, an employee-owned foundry, and watched melted steel become molded into castings.

They next moved down the road at Rolar, a company who started with three employees eight years ago and is now up to forty full-time employees.

After lunch and classroom tours at MCC's Stirrus campus, they spent the afternoon at two different automotive suppliers, Scherdel and ADAC, and learned about both their manufacturing systems as well as their hiring policies.

Students heard presentations from company executives and took tours on the factory floors. They learned about potential post-graduation job opportunities, some of which required a college degree and many of which did not. At the end of the day, they all had a clearer picture of what life might look like after high school. Check out the pictures below.
