Welcome Back Sailors!
A great time of the year for Fall Break! We hope you all have had a chance to rest and rejuvenate. We are midway through the 1st trimester and off to an incredible start.
Congratulations to Mayson Southland who is competing this weekend in the MHSAA Girls Golf State Championships! Good Luck Mayson!
Halloween Dress Expectations
Thursday, October 31, 2024 is Halloween. Staff and students who wish to participate by dressing in costume may do so.
Looking forward to seeing you all! Have fun and be safe!
Please be mindful of the following guidelines.
- No masks or other face coverings that cover the entire face.
- No “look-alike” weapons will be allowed.
- Costumes promoting alcohol, drugs, violence or anything construed to be offensive in nature will not be allowed.
- For their own safety, students should avoid wearing costumes that drag on the floor
- Roller blades, skates, scooters, skateboards are not allowed.

Interested in a possible job shadow opportunity or a way to know more about specific careers? You can try reaching out to our county's Career Specialist, Stephen Pettifor. College Planning
Senior Meetings
Counselors have been meeting with seniors one-on-one about their future plans. Much information is available under “Classwork” in their Counseling google classroom page.
College Visits
Fall is a great time to visit college campuses and our fall break is a good time to go. You can get a feel for what the campus is like while students are there. Several Michigan College Events are highlighted here. Sign up today for a tour or campus visit!
Scholarships
Please go to our scholarship page to see many more available scholarships at: https://www.monashores.net/o/mshs/page/financial-aid-and-scholarships. Scholarship notices are posted throughout the building, on our website, on the daily announcements and in the Class of 2025 Google Classroom.
Transcripts
Seniors, request your transcript through Parchment AFTER your college application is submitted. There is a link at the bottom of the Mona Shores High School Counseling webpage. Account setup instructions can also be found there. Transcript orders are free for graduating seniors through July 31.
FAFSA
FAFSA is scheduled to open December 1. College-bound seniors should complete the 25-26 FAFSA (on or after Dec. 1st; it is not available yet) to determine your eligibility for college grants, scholarships, and loans. MI Student Aid has a lot of information available for students and families! Students and parents can create your FSA ID now in preparation. Click on the link for a how-to guide.
SAT Test Preparation:
Students may utilize Khan Academy. Please see Mr. Higgs in the LMC for more information about this free service.
Parents/students looking for an SAT Prep course, you may consider Dr. Scott Carlin’s Test Prep. This is tuition based. Please see the registration link below.
