Congratulations to Mr. Michael Reinhardt!

WZZM Teacher of the Week!

Mr. Reinhardt co-teaches stagecraft theater along side Ms. Baker. He was nominated by a community member and was honored this week. WZZM will air the presentation next Monday, December 16 on the early morning show and later that same day.  Please keep from posting on socials until it airs on Monday.

Incredible person and educator! He is behind the scenes in making sure all of the musicals, concerts, productions have an incredible set, sound and lights. Teaching and mentoring all of the students in stagecraft the skills to build sets and assist in making the scenes possible is something that Mr. Reinhardt takes much pride in.

Special Thank you to the Freshman Senate for sponsoring the Holiday Spirit Week!

Career Exploration

Sophomore CTC Tour - January 13

Earlier this week, the Career Tech Center Principal and counselor came over to present the various programs and opportunities available to our students on the campus of the Muskegon Career Tech Center. Following the presentation, sophomores were given the opportunity to select three CTC classes they would like to visit during the upcoming sophomore tour. Check in with your 10th grader to see what they selected! If you’d like to learn more about the programs offered, the CTC will be hosting an Open House on February 10 from 4:00pm-7:00pm. More information will be forthcoming.

Trades Spotlight- Sheet Metal Worker

SENIORS-  Preparing to enter the trades after graduation takes just as much preparation as heading off to college.  You should be applying NOW for apprenticeships or entrance into training programs.  Some programs have long waitlists.  One profession that is often overlooked is working with sheet metal, and we have a union-based training center here in Muskegon County.  View the description below for more information and click the link for contact information if you are interested in a possible apprenticeship.

Smart Training Center

Located off Dangl Road in Fruitport Township, the union admits roughly 24 apprentices every July.  Pre-apprenticeships at local shops start at $18 per hr, and the journeyman’s wage ranges from $41 to $58 per hour.

College Planning

FAFSA is open! College-bound seniors should complete the 25-26 FAFSA to determine your eligibility for college grants, scholarships, and loans. MI Student Aid has a lot of information available for students and families! Students and parents must create an FSA ID before they can complete FAFSA. Click on the link for a how-to guide.

FAFSA Night - Monday, January 13, 2025 @ 6:00-7:30 pm. GVSU Financial Aid will be coming to Mona Shores to give a presentation about the FAFSA followed by a short workshop. You can come for the presentation only, or you can stay to get help with your FAFSA! This will be held in the high school Library/Media Center (LMC).
